Spectrum of Inborn errors of immunity in a cohort of 90 patients presenting with complications to BCG vaccination in India

Abstract World Health Organisation recommends the practice of BCG vaccination at birth in countries which have a high incidence tuberculosis and/or leprosy burden. The is considered safe for competent immune system. However, children with weakened systems cause can be primary or secondary, vaccine may lead to side effects localized disseminated. In this study, we report spectrum inborn errors immunity (IEI) commonly referred as immunodeficiency disorders (PIDs) diagnosed large cohort patients presenting complications from India. Retrospective data analysis ICMR‐ National Institute Immunohematology (ICMR‐NIIH) IEI workup between 2007 and 2019 was done. identified n = 52/90 (57.7%) complications. Of these, 13(14.4%) were severe combined deficiency, 15(16.7%) chronic granulomatous disease, 19(21.1%) Inborn IFN‐γ immunity, 4(4.4%) Combined 1(1.1%) Leucocyte Adhesion Deficiency type1. Majority cases BCGosis (88%) had an underlying IEI. This study strongly highlights need evaluation While disseminated predicts IEI, even persistent adenitis warning sign It also recommended record family history previous sibling death prior administration live deferring till diagnosis ruled out positive history.
